Kelly DeFayette is a San Francisco artist who moved to the Bay Area in 1997 to attend the San Francisco Art Intstitute and has been showing professionally since 2003.
Kelly works on wood panel with a high gloss finish. Panel shapes vary from traditional squares, rectangles and circles to irregular and tessellating polygons. The shape of the panel informs the materials and style used, from taped angles and lines sharply spray painted on, to hand applied acrylic, graphite and chalk in gestural tangles. Color is the focus and the intersection of the craft of the object and the intention of the painting is the result.
Currently, Kelly's paintings can be seen at Studio 333 in Sausalito, Peace Industry in San Francisco and Style A Gallery in Bozeman, MT. Kelly works out of Norton Factory Studios in Oakland.
